AHEC Summer Institute
This six week program funded by Capital Workforce Partners engages up to 30 urban youth ages 14 and 15 in education and personal development workshops. The program covers seven career competencies to prepare the youth for success in future employment and higher education:
- Basic Skills (Reading & Math)
- Job Seeking Skills
- Interpersonal Skills
- Personal Qualities
- Communication
- Problem Solving/ Decision Making
- Computer Literacy
Students learn about targeted growth industries in Connecticut, create a reality and dream resume, and create team projects that highlight their career interests.
