Problem In 2007 many people have still never been tested for HIV. Many more know their status but have difficulty accessing health related and support services like counseling and case management due to lack of access, information and non-integration of services.
Solution Central Area Health Education Center, Inc. has been a provider of Ryan White funded services for over 15 years. Our integrated system of Early Intervention/Rapid Testing and Outreach with Triage Case Management, Substance Abuse Counseling and Primary Care services ensures that individuals in Hartford County receive culturally competent education, rapid testing to know their HIV status and engagement into services which stop the progression of HIV and improve their quality of life.

More than 1000 clients engaged in the Early Intervention and Outreach Program with referrals to counseling and testing and primary care
50% of clients served live at or below the Federal Poverty Level
A Mobile Health Van providing Primary Care, Substance Abuse and Outreach services three evenings a week
More than 350 clients tested for HIV in the first two quarters of the Mobile Van program
Substance Abuse Counselors placed at homeless shelters at night and on weekends
