Health Partners Program
.... Everyone Deserves a Better Future
Health Partners is a retraining and bridge program created by Central Area Health Education Center, Inc. and designed to provide individuals with the tools necessary to pursue educational opportunities within the health care fields.
The Health Partners program provides a six-part educational series that focuses on workforce development, career readiness, and education advancement in the allied health fields. The program provides CPR/ First Aid training, experiential training, and addresses the importance of being culturally competent.
The Health Partners workshop series was developed based upon Central AHEC’s successes in implementing health education programs and trainings within the communities of central CT, such as the Collegiate Health Leadership series and the North-End EMT Collaborative Program. The Health Partners Program components include:
- Health Career Pathways: showcases several pathways that individuals can take to advance in high demand public health, allied health, and primary care occupations
- Cultural Competency: creates awareness of cultural differences and their impact on the community and the health care field, according to the CLAS standards
- Career and Education Exploration: provide dislocated workers with resources and referrals to guide them through the process of seeking the appropriate education and training programs that match their interest and abilities.
- Medical Terminology: introduces individuals to basic anatomy and physiology, as well as some of the most widely used terminology in the health care field
- Career Building: provides current information on career fairs, college fairs, and volunteer/job opportunities as well as resume reviewing and interview skills training
- Experiential Learning: trains individuals in CPR and First Aid (with certification) and how to take vital signs.
