HeartStrong

Heart Healthy The HeartStrong Program is a community level intervention created by Central AHEC, Inc. to reduce incidence of heart disease and stroke.

HeartStrong provides a six-part educational workshop series that focuses on heart disease and stroke topics. The program provides health screenings, addresses important behavioral changes that individuals can make, stresses the importance of seeking regular medical care and health screenings, and advocates using 9-1-1 in the event that signs of heart attack or stroke are apparent.

HeartStrong program is a faith-based group level and community level intervention targeting African American/Caribbean American men and women ages 40-65 living in Hartford, Bloomfield, and Windsor. Workshops are held at faith-based sites, senior programs/senior centers, and professional/social organizations.
