2008 Internship Programs
Community Employment Internship Training Program: This program provides a planned supervised experience of between 144 and 192 hours for full or part time students in an institution of higher learning or training program in an administrative setting.
Participants achieve the following goals:
- Develop work readiness skills through structured projects in an administrative setting
- Provide job shadowing and career exploration opportunities in a variety of health related fields
- Support the pursuit of higher education
- Encourage personal development through one to one supervision
- Satisfy school requirements for internship credit hours
Academic Partners in this program include The Hartford Job Corps, Manchester Community College and Goodwin College.
College Health Service Corps: This program prepares future health professionals and other interested community members to conduct health education, outreach and service learning projects in settings that serve marginalized populations and to increase awareness of careers in health delivery and public health. This program is supervised by the College Health Service Corps Coordinator and completes 180 hours of training and documentation (30 hours) service learning projects (75 hours) and health education and Outreach (75 hours).
Participants achieve the following:
- become a part of the community you live in
- acquire real life experience in health delivery settings
- build personal development, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- develop skills in health observation, data collection and health care delivery
- satisfy school requirements for internship credit hours in your field of study
