Dear Parents:
The Central AHEC, Inc. staff and Board of Directors is committed to engaging youth in career exploration, training workshops, personal development activities and educational planning that will improve their ability to achieve their full potential and realize their personal goals. Without your support and involvement, our mission could not be fully realized!
As the summer reaches its halfway mark, our end of program celebration is drawing near. We invite you to attend our 2008 Career and Education Initiative End of Summer Award Ceremony on August 11, 2008 from 6pm until 8pm at the Village for Families and Children 1680 Albany Avenue in Hartford (light dinner will be served). Join other committed parents as they acknowledge the important goals their children have achieved, meet AHEC Board members and staff, and register your son or daughter for upcoming program offerings! Youth Programs
In September, our “Health Careers Chronicle”, a newsletter describing our 2008-2009 school year opportunities will be made available to you at your request. Please email dsmith@centralctahec.org to request a copy that will give you information about the CT Youth Health Service Corps, Voices of the Future and our new Health Debating Clubs. We look forward to building our existing relationship with your child. Please consider one of our program offerings in the coming year!
Parent Connection
Central AHEC is committed to supporting parents as they prepare their children for adulthood. We are planning to distribute a Parents Needs Assessment survey and invite you to a Parent Talk Back focus group series. These will help us better understand your needs as parents and design supportive activities that increase your ability to develop educated, healthy and career-minded children.
Volunteer Opportunities
Want to change the world? We invite you to come join us as a committee member, chaperone, guest speaker, or program volunteer in support of the Career and Education Initiatives department. Central AHEC hosts many special events throughout the year that benefit our local community. Please visit our website www.centralctahec.org to find articles on the status of our community’s health, how Central AHEC programs improve our health quality, education and access and what you can do to help!
Once again, we value your ideas, feedback and assistance as we strive to eliminate health disparities in diverse communities in central Connecticut.
Sincerely,
Denise O. Smith
